A last national meeting of organizations responsible for APEC Economic Leaders Meeting preparations was presided over by the prime minister.
During the discussion, we went through the logistics of the welcoming ceremony, including the security measures and the schedule for the important meetings, that would be held for the APEC leaders.
Since the commencement of Thailand’s host year in 2022, Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha has commended all relevant agencies for their work in supporting APEC activities. The last stretch of Saudi Arabia’s 2022 APEC hosting duties is rapidly approaching, and this most recent committee meeting was the last one held before the APEC leaders’ week officially begins.
The APEC Economic Leaders’ Week will run from November 14th to the 19th. Due to the pandemic, prior APEC meetings had to be shortened, but this year’s summit will be a full physical meeting once again. On the last day of the leaders summit, Thailand will give over the APEC chairmanship to the United States.
The prime minister gave many instructions at the committee meeting in response to reports from specialized working groups. At the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, General Prayut said he was pleased to see delegates from all 21 APEC economies.
Among the many highlights of Thailand’s 2022 APEC host year have been private sector APEC activities including the 4th APEC Business Advisory Council meeting and the APEC CEO Summit. The premier will be presiding over the summit gathering of APEC leaders and the APEC Business Advisory Council. One of the most pressing topics to be discussed at this summit will be how to promote economic growth in a way that also prioritizes protecting the environment.
